HMR Calibrated Laminated Plywood

HMR plywood, also known as High Moisture Resistant plywood, is a type of plywood that is specially designed for use in high humidity and moisture environments.

It is a cost-effective and durable material that can be used for various interior applications, including furniture, Kitchen Cabinets , Wardrobes, Bathroom Cabinets, Crockery etc.

The primary advantage of using HMR plywood in interiors is its ability to resist moisture and humidity, which makes it ideal for use in areas such as kitchens, bathrooms, and basements. It is made with a special type of adhesive that is more resistant to moisture than standard plywood, and it is also treated with chemicals to make it more resistant to rot and decay.

In terms of appearance, HMR plywood has a smooth surface and is available in different thicknesses and grades. It can be painted, stained, or laminated to match the decor of any interior space.

Overall, HMR plywood is an excellent choice for interiors due to its strength, durability, and resistance to moisture.

Manufacturing Process

  • Selection of Raw Materials: The selection of high-quality raw materials is crucial for the manufacturing of HMR plywood. Hardwood, softwood, and phenolic resin are the primary materials used in this process.
  • Peeling and Cutting of Veneers: The logs are soaked in water to make them easier to peel, and a blade peels off thin layers or veneers of wood. These veneers are then cut into the desired size and shape.
  • Pre-Pressing to Remove Moisture: The veneers are pre-pressed to remove any moisture that may be present. This process ensures that the veneers are flat and have a consistent thickness.
  • Gluing with Phenolic Resin: The veneers are glued together with phenolic resin. This glue is highly moisture-resistant and helps to give the plywood its strength and durability.
  • Hot Pressing under High Pressure and Temperature: The glued veneers are placed in a hot press, where they are subjected to high pressure and temperature.
  • Trimming and Sanding to Desired Size and Smoothness: After the hot pressing, the plywood sheets are trimmed to the desired size and sanded to create a smooth surface.
  • Finishing with Varnish or Other Coating: Finally, the plywood sheets are coated with a layer of varnish or other finishing material to protect them from moisture, heat, and other environmental factors.
